| 85% Malbec - 15% Merlot
As expected from the best terroirs of Cahors, the birthplace of the Malbec grape, the wine is made of a powerful elegance between vanilla and ripe fruit laced with violet floral aromas on the nose as well as peppery spice and roundness on the palate. Dark purple in color with flavors of blueberry, blackberry and cassis surrounded by a nice toasted spice that rounds out the wine. Nice tannins that provide a long finish. This wine pairs best with cassoulet, duck confit, braised game meat,, sausage, grilled venison or lamb chops as well as fattier fish like salmon and poultry with dark meat. In addition to these meat pairings, consider foods with richer sauces and more vibrant flavors.
A&E stands for Anne & Emmanuelle as the sisters had the idea of blending Malbec with Merlot in order to create an elegant wine full of fruit and spices. The grapes are fermented separately before blending and bottling. This is a great representation of what the best grapes from the Southwest of France can do. |

This selection is the winery’s flagship and one of the greatest values you can find in the wine market today. The 2021 follows in a line of exceptional releases, this vintage heady with blackberry freshness and silken tannins with a road-tar scent that only adds to the wine’s dark beauty. Yona Benjamin of NYC’s Pure Wine responded to its “delicious strawberry flavor” and, noting the price, said “It’s better than many Bordeaux that are much more expensive.”

Rich but fresh on the nose with a hint of cigar box to the blackberries, dark cherries and roasted spices. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate with firm, lightly chewy tannins and a juicy, flavorful center palate. Pretty long in the finish. Needs a year or two to let the tannins soften more. Try in 2025.

"The color of blueberry preserves, this wine offers a bouquet of blackberry, coffee bean and dried thyme. Coffee transitions to the palate as well, joined by cassis, purple plum, black olive paste, orange zest and cocoa butter flavors, wrapped in a cocoon of velvety tannins that drift into a lasting mocha-scented finish. - Mike DeSimone"

| Sourced from a patchwork of older sites in Riverland, with back-burners of shiraz (4%) and mataro (1%) in the mix. Wild fermented in large neutral oak with a good seasoning of whole bunches. No fining or filtering with the aim of retaining the integrity of fruit while promoting its natural energy. Sappy, fruity and punchy. Full-bodied, yet you would hardly know it. Nothing at all heavy here. Drinks like a candied pinot, reeling off notes of rosehip, maraschino cherry and Seville orange before a bristle of bunchy tannins concludes. A little torrefied, needing a chill for savoriness. Drink now. Screw cap.

Ratti likened Barbera to Chardonnay insofar as it can be crafted in diverse styles. As a vine, it loves heat, he said, and so has benefited from climate change. But it requires perfect timing to harvest-just a couple of days' delay will result in a wine that is overly jammy. "It's about the fruit, the fruit, the fruit, he emphasized to me. Indeed, this wine shows beautiful black fruit on the nose, with hints of ripe cherry. Deeply colored with a tinge of blue, it's round yet crisp and quenching, with bright, savory fruit. |
