So much crisp pears, tart peaches and lemon aromas here, but also notes of fresh garden herbs! This is a very juicy expression of Eden Valley dry riesling with wonderful balance. A long and zesty finish pulls you back for more.

The fruit for this 2022 No. 44 is from a selection of growers in Eden Valley: Springton, Flaxman Valley and Eden Valley. This is soft and talc-y, close to plump but not quite there. It carries the line and form of Eden Valley (that is to say, crushed rock austerity, lime/lemon zest and loads of spring flowers), but it has additional inflections of lavender, Golden Delicious apples and star anise. Lovely.

Pale in color, this bright and zesty 2022 Riesling No. 44 Eden Valley Growers from a rising star offers expressive lime juice and citrus pith aromas with touches of musky complexity. Dry, quite textural and embryonic, a firm acid bite provides impact before building through to a beautifully long, poised and spicy finish. Brilliant value.
