A well-crafted, textural and well-driven blend or syrah and mourvedre with aromas of dark cherries, currants, roasted meat, peppercorns and some stones. It’s medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. It is well-built, with a solid frame of tannins coating the palate. Dense with dark berries and loads of spices. Plenty of energy and verve with a focused, long and spicy finish. I loved the 2022 Ventoux Persia, a pure, vibrant Ventoux based on mostly Syrah with 10% Mourvèdre. Ripe black, red, and blue fruit, lots of peppery herbs, violets, and floral notes, medium body, beautiful overall balance, and ripe, integrated tannins all make for a gorgeous 2022 that will drink nicely right out of the gate.
