50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault
40 Year old vines
The wine boasts a dark red ruby color, aromas of red berries, truffles and spices. Complex and rich flavors of red and black fruits with herbal notes coming from the surrounding vegetation (Garrigue).

60% Grenache
30% Syrah
10% Carignan

The Grenache vines range from 55 to 100 years old. The Carignan vines are 82 years old, while his Syrah vines range from 30 to 50 years old. This in an unusually rich and complex Côtes du Rhône. This year he added 30% Syrah (up from 15%). This blend further accentuates the bright red cherry fruit in the wine and gives it more body and richness. His old vine Carignan adds a complex peppery spice component, while the adds rich black fruit flavors.

Brilliant ruby-red. Fresh and energetic on the nose, displaying intense red fruit preserve and floral scents and a suggestion of white pepper. Juicy and supple on the palate, offering sweet raspberry and cherry flavors and a refreshingly bitter blood orange nuance. Fine grained tannins build slowly through a long, sappy finish that leaves behind a suave lavender note.  Great with cheese!

The deep black-cherry and ripe-blackberry fruit, plus the full, soft body push this to the edge of sweetness on the palate. However, the gentle dry tannins at the velvety finish just keep it on track. A style that now seems a bit dated, but plenty of wine drinkers love this. Drink now."

The grapes for this wine are organically grown in sandy clay soil in two different parcels: 4 hectares surrounding the domaine; and 4.5 hectares in the quarter called le Moulinas. The yields are 45 to 50 hl/ha and the vines average 40 years in age. The grapes are harvested by hand with a hand triage to select only the best quality grapes. They are de-stemmed and crushed, followed by maceration in temperature controlled tanks. The two grape varietals are vinified separately based on the time at which they are harvested. This ensures that each grape variety is brought in and vinified at optimal maturity. The wine rests in tank and is racked 2 to 3 times over the winter.

In 2015 the Graniers decided to continue to increase the percentage of Syrah in their blend. This increase has given the wine added depth and concentration, without sacrificing balance in the wine. In the mouth, rich blackberry notes give way to red cherry and black pepper spice. Even with the increased percentage of Syrah, the tannins are very supple and round in the finish. The current blend is 50/50 Grenache and Syrah. The wine is certified organic by Ecocert

"Dusty ruby color. Aromas and flavors of cherry custard and meringue, delicate jerky, fig newton, and pipe tobacco with a satiny, bright, fruity medium-to-full body and a smooth, delightful, medium-long finish that exhibits touches of honey roasted cherries and root vegetables, roasted nuts, cedar, and cocoa nibs with chewy, firm tannins and moderate oak flavor. A chewy, toothsome, table friendly French red that is an easy choice for a meaty Mediterranean meal."
